One of the most painful things you can find out after daycare abuse has been stopped is that you could’ve done something to have prevented it from ever happening. Many parents go through this experience. To make sure you don’t end up being one of them, you can take the time to verify that the facilities you used to provide care for your children are up to the standards that your children deserve. One of the best ways to do this is to make sure that the facility you use requires background checks of all of their employees.

Background Checks on Daycare Facility

Background checks allow the facility to determine the history of the individuals that they hire. There are facilities out there that do a good job of checking their caregiver staff but don’t bother to check the other people who actually have access to the children; sometimes unsupervised access. For example, most larger daycare facilities have a few maintenance people around, perhaps they have a groundskeeper and, if they have a large number of children, they may actually even have a few bus drivers on staff. All of these people need to be background checked thoroughly. The types of predators that prey on children oftentimes look for daycare facilities where staff other than caregivers are not background checked thoroughly.

You’ll also want to make sure that all of the caregiver staff is checked for any complaints in their history of working with children. This doesn’t necessarily mean legal complaints. For example, ask your daycare facility if they take the time to call all of the old employers that their current caregivers worked for and to interview them thoroughly about that individual’s performance. Some facilities don’t bother with this or they may just give them cursory checks as they would with any other employee.

Daycare workers have a lot of access to your children. As a parent, you have a right to know for certain that they are professional, dedicated and that they care about children deeply. When you find a good daycare facility, your child will end up having a great time when they go to daycare and many of the workers will end up becoming friends of your children. However, if you’ve been deceived by a daycare facility in regards to their practices, contact a competent daycare abuse law firm. They may be able to help you file a lawsuit.
