One of the hardest things to do is to actually start talking about a situation where you know your child is being abused in a daycare facility. Good people generally don’t suspect others of being cruel and exploitative as to abuse a child. This makes it hard for parents to trust their instincts, in some cases and to simply voice their suspicions. The key to being able to voice your own suspicions is finding an audience that will be willing to listen to you and that will take them seriously without goading you in to taking actions that you may regret later.
Other Parents
Most of the time, an abusive and negligent daycare facility ends up having detrimental effects on more than one child. This means that other parents at the facility will likely be aware that there is some sort of abuse going on. They may have their suspicions, just like you, or they may have more substantive evidence to back up their suspicions. Talking to other parents is an excellent way to determine whether or not other people are getting the same bad feeling you are. In some cases, you may find that other parents are looking for someone to speak with, as well.
Counselors
If you see a counselor or psychiatrist regularly, you may want to bring the issue up with them. Of course, these professionals are paid to be good people to talk to and, if you have suspicions, they certainly have a lot of expertise in abuse and may be able to give you some advice about how to handle the situation. You may also be able to figure it out yourself just by talking to someone in a non-judgmental environment.
Physicians
Your family physician may also be able to give you some advice in this regard. If you find suspicious marks on your child, be sure to bring them to the doctor to get examined. This affords the doctor an opportunity to take pictures of the damage and to make a close examination so they can tell whether or not it is likely that the damage was the result of some form of abuse.
You can speak with a daycare abuse attorney about situations where your child has been victimized by abuse in daycare. They may be able to help you by putting together a lawsuit so you can seek financial compensation from the daycare facility that visited harm upon your child.
