When you bring your child to a daycare facility, you should have confidence that the staff and the administration will look out for your child’s well-being. Unfortunately, this sometimes isn’t the case. Not every instance where a child is abused in daycare is the result of somebody deliberately visiting violence, or worse, upon them. In some cases, it’s just negligence and a failure to uphold their duties to the child. Watch out for the following signs.

Mysterious Injuries

In some cases, children will keep coming home with odd injuries. It’s natural for children to get hurt now and then when they’re playing. In fact, it’s just part of growing up. There should be adequate supervision at the daycare facility, however, to ensure that they’re not injured badly or repeatedly. If they are, the daycare facility may be negligent.

Bullying

Daycare facilities need to watch out for every child that spends their time there. When children aren’t adequately supervised, the end result is sometimes that some children end up bullying others horribly. This can cause severe psychological stress and, in some cases physical harm. If your child is being bullied, you need to speak with the administration.

Illnesses

Sometimes, children get ill because they’re in unsanitary conditions. Of course, it’s natural for children to catch a lot of colds and other illnesses. If they start coming home with illnesses such as food poisoning, infections and other illnesses that are generally the result of poor hygiene, you may want to consider moving them to a different facility.

Four: Understaffed

If you walk into the daycare facility and the staff seems overworked and like they don’t have time to spend on each of the individual children, the facility may be understaffed. Having too many children on hand can ascend to the level of negligence, in some cases. Particularly if it causes some of the children to come to harm or if you are not getting the level of care you expected for your money, you may want to report this to authorities and speak with an attorney about the matter.

A daycare child abuse lawyer can help you file a lawsuit for negligence in the daycare facility. Not every instance of daycare child abuse involves outright physical or sexual abuse but, make no mistake, the facility’s failure to live up to reasonable expectations on the part of their clients can most certainly cause injury to children.
